Description

  • Dry style
  • Kaffir lime
  • Stonefruit
  • Bright, pure finish

"Pristine and fabulously aromatic, the wine shows passionfruit, kaffir lime, feijoa and subtle musky aromas, leading to a wonderfully flavoursome palate offering fine texture and bright acidity. Splendidly poised and refined with excellent fruit purity, enhanced by saline textural mouthfeel, finishing impressively long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2022

"Bright, even, pale straw yellow. The nose has incredible freshness and intensity, with aromas of gooseberries and kiwi fruit melded with straw and white spice. Medium-bodied, intense aromas of gooseberries and kiwi fruit intertwined with straw, white pepper and cardamom finish with a long line of salinity. The fruit has excellent flavours and concentration, a hint of saline added appeal and moreish linger. The smooth mouthfeel is adorned by white spice and oyster shell minerals. This Sauvignon Blanc is attractive and moreish with vibrant fruit and spice elements. Match with steamed green-lipped mussels and sole fish over the next 3-4 years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Jul 2022

"A very engaging bouquet from the the first sniff - with aromas of fresh lime leaf and white stone fruits, lemon pith and fresh sage. Vibrant, youthful, powerful and new. A texture-laden palate with a saline and high acid youthful energy. Flavours of citrus and white stone fruits, fresh green herbs and a fine stony mineral quality combine to present a delicious, fresh, textured and well made wine. Ideal with oysters or freshly steamed green-lipped mussels. Best drinking from late 2022 through 2027+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2022

"Crisp, dry Sauvignon with grapefruit, passionfruit, oyster shell, gooseberry and lemongrass flavours. Tangy wine in the greener side of the flavour spectrum but showing good concentration, power and purity" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Sep 2022

Bright straw in colour, this energetic sauvignon blanc has explosive aromatics of paw paw, Kaffir lime, capsicum, and stone fruit that mingle with subtle notes of coconut and dill. Dry and reminiscent of highball gin and tonic, persistent flavours of blackcurrant, banana passionfruit, cucumber, and green olive are revealed alongside bright, mouthwatering acidity. The distinctive palate has an elegant structure and a bright, pure finish.

Grapes were harvested in the early morning from vineyards in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys.

Very good intensity of flavour and aromatics this year, due to great fertility in the vineyards and late summer rains. 2022 wines have expressive aromatics, great energy and fresh lively acidity with a tight structure on the palate.

Lightly pressed, the juice was fermented cool, predominately in stainless steel to maximise fruit purity and distinctive varietal character. A small portion was fermented in concrete egg tank and clay amphora to add a grainy texture to the palate. The wine was then aged on light yeast lees for three months to gain complexity and increase mouthfeel.
