Description

Bastille Day, France's national holiday known as La Fête Nationale, commemorates the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, which sparked the French Revolution. Today, the French recognize Bastille Day as the end of the monarchy and beginning of the modern republic, with its battle cry: "liberty, equality, fraternity", eventually became the new nation’s motto.

Here at Black Market we believe Bastille Day is a great excuse to celebrate French wine, as so bring you a  with all the important red wine regions covered all in one place.

Made from the Carignan grape variety, from vineyards comprising 100 year old vines!

We love the Carignan grape, especially when made from old vines which produce concentrated, intense and delicious wines. 2016 was a good, sunny vintage. On the nose, this wine has aromas of fig and garrigue herbs typical of ancient Carignan vines grown on hillsides. The palate is delicate, with a fine balance between taste and tannins, suppleness and acidity. A wonderfully rich, elegant example of this Languedoc grape variety.
