This luscious red perfectly captures the ripeness, depth and sheer drinkability of the best Côtes du Rhônes. Made from the usual suspects from this part of France - Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. This beauty has rich, ripe flavours of spiced blackberry, raspberry and redcurrant. Lovely, long, smooth and silky on the palate but with plenty of structure making it feel more serious than the price tag suggests.

1 x Domaine de L’Amandine Côtes du Rhône 2016 (France)

Awarded GOLD MEDAL: Gilbert & Gaillard

Domaine de L’Amandine is an exciting new find for us from the southern Rhône. It is a classic velvety Grenache, enhanced with a little peppery, blackberry rich Syrah. Well ripened in the warm sunshine of 2016, and very moreish – Rhône red at its most appealing best.

This wine is made from old Grenache vines and old vines of Syrah and Mourvèdre. The grapes are picked at optimal maturity and sorted out before crushing. Grenache brings roundness, fatness and softness, while Syrah and Mourvèdre bring structure and frame. The tannins are extremely smooth and elegant, this wine is like velvet in the mouth. With roundness, complexity and a long finish of spices; it's like a baby Chateauneuf-du-Pape!
