Description
- Off-dry style
- Apple & pear
- Warm spice
- Rich & luscious
"Fragrant, varietal and floral with a fruit centric bouquet of pears and apple, spices and a youthful vibrato. Lots of texture as the wine touches the palate with acidity, some super fine fruit tannins and a lees driven complexity. Satin smooth as the wine opens out and warms on the palate, flavours mirror the bouquet. Balanced and well made with a decent length and finesse. A wine that will continue to age with best drinking from 2023 through 2028+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2023
"Quite a lush style of pinot gris with a hint of sweetness nicely balanced by gentle acidity and a suggestion of phenolics that helps promote a drying finish. Tree fruit/pear and quince flavours. Robust wine" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jun 2023
Golden yellow, rich, full, apple pie, quince jelly, and yellow plum. Nice balance and good length. The Carrick Pinot Gris is a classic example of this variety from Central Otago, it is the cousin of Pinot Noir, named for the grey purple colour of its skins.
Crushed, pressed and wild fermented in a combination of tank and old oak barriques (27%), barrels fermented to dryness, the tank was stopped to retain some residual sugar. Both parcels were blended after 7 months maturation and then bottled.
