Domaine de la Baume in the Languedoc-Roussillon region is situated in Servian, between Béziers and the medieval town of Pézenas, at the centre of the world’s largest wine-growing area. Coming from a mix of vineyards in the north and southern part of the Costières, the 2015 Costières de Nîmes Syrah incorporates 3% Viognier and is always made with a northern Rhône style in mind. It sports a deep ruby color to go with ripe, full-bodied notes of blackberries, chocolate, smoked herbs and hints of meatiness. Textured, layered and impeccably balanced, with terrific depth, it's a total charmer to enjoy over the coming 3-4 years.

"Full, dark, deep with purple tints on the rim. The nose is elegantly proportioned with well-packed and concentrated aromas showing an array of ripe black fruits. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a rich and densely packed heart with juicy flavours of ripe dark raspberries, blackberries and black plums, melded with black pepper, herbs and florals. The mouthfeel is bright and vibrant, and the sweet, rich fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin grip with integrated acidity. This is a rich, plush and juicy, black-fruited Syrah with pepper, herbs and notes of jam on a fine, grainy palate. Match with roasted game meats over the next 5+ years" Raymond Chan, May 2018
"Wonderfully fruited and immediately appealing, the bouquet shows blackberry, blueberry compote, vanilla and roasted nut aromas, leading to a succulent palate that is brimming with rich fruit intensity. It is plump, fleshy and velvety, and finishes long and delectable. A fabulous modern rendition. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2018
Very intense purplish colour. The nose is powerful with notes of black, jammy fruit evolving to garrigue spices mixed with forest floor and dill. The mouth is full, round and opulent, packed with ripe fruits such as prune, fig and blackberry with superbly vanilla and toasted finish. This extremely luscious wine is a concentration of all the sun of the South.
Clay and limestone. The climate is typically Mediterranean, warm and sunny with low rainfall. Winters are mild, summers are hot and usual dry conditions allow the grapes to ripen fully. Vines are ploughed.
