Excellent value for money and better than many pinot noirs in the upper $20 level. Strong varietal character with fruit to the fore and decent length on the mid-palate with clever segue into the finish. Five stars for its value for money and on the broader scale, a 4.5 star wine.

What a score this buy was although I was reasonably sure what I was buying before placing the order. Great wine, fantastic pricing. I shared the purchase with a couple of friends and when sharing a glassful to compliment our Chinese cuisine last night one of them said he'd walked past it in a supermarket start of the week at $26 / bottle, he thought it was a right score and has asked me to include him in anything further I order because he hasn't shared a dud with me yet.

Custom labelled by the winery for a commercial customer so not something you'd recognize from supermarket shelves but a really pleasant drop. Added on labels for NZ compliance made the bottle look slightly shabby but the contents had nothing to apologize for, wish I'd bought more before it sold out. Another one of those understated bargains we often see on Black Market.

There is surprising complexity to this chardonnay (especially at the price). It has some of that great buttery flavour, but not too much. It is especially good on its own but also a great compliment to food.
