Deep cherry Red in colour, the McGuigan Black Label Red 2016 delivers intense aromas of cherry and blackcurrent with notes of spicy oak. The palate is smooth and displays sweet ripe berries and cherries, with good length and complexity. Our famous Black Label Red is a very versatile wine that is especially rewarding with tomato based Italian, spicy Asian food and pizza. 

Rich and flavoursome red wines have been an Australian favourite for many years. This classic red wine is no exception and was blended to achieve exactly this. The McGuigan Black Label Red is a very consistent wine which has made it an all time favourite and one of the top selling branded red wines in Australia. 

The grapes were crushed and de-stemmed where it was then fermented an oak for 5 to 7 days. The majority of the wine is then matured in stainless steel tanks with a percentage of the wine transferred onto French and American oak. Post-fermenation, the wine was matured and blended allowing the winemaker to create this smooth, approachable fruit-dominant wine. 

The fruit for this was wine was sourced from the vineyards in South Eastern Australia. The climate is hot with high evaporation rates and generally low rainfall, making irrigation essential. The climate is also continental, resulting in long sunny days and noticeably cooler nights. Long sunshine hours ensure fruit ripens fully and low relative humidity results in little incidence of disease.
