Description

  • Crisp red berries
  • Soft florals
  • Subtle spice
  • 100% Tempranillo grapes

"It is restrained and delicately expressed on the nose showing apple, raspberry, lemon peel and subtle savoury characters, leading to a focused palate that is finely textured and elegantly fruited. It is vibrant and mouth-watering with a lengthy crisp finish" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2019

"Light, dry Rosé with a pale pink hue and fairly subtle floral and spice flavours. The wine has an ethereal texture with a drying finish. An unusual and distinctive wine with character" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Nov 2018

The 2017-2018 season will be remembered as one which was consistently warmer day to day than previous years. It was not that temperatures were necessarily higher, it was more a sense of milder conditions overall, rather than the suffering extremes. The result was much earlier vine growth and seasonal development than has been seen in recent memory.

Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes from Elephant Hill's Bridge Pa vineyard. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed, spent 1 hour on skin to avoid excessive colour and then vinified in stainless steel tank and on lees for 6 months. It was bottled on the 22nd of August 2018.

Established in 2003, Elephant Hill is located within a stone's throw of the Pacific Ocean on the idyllic Te Awanga coast of Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island. The winemaking at Elephant Hill is driven by tradition while not losing sight of what innovation can bring to the blend. Their aim is to make wines that are balanced, elegant and a true expression of the vineyards they come from.

Food Pairing: Great as an aperitif or with antipasto.
