Description

"The wine is sweetly fruited and fragrant on the nose showing blackcurrant, cranberry, vanilla and cedary wood characters with nuances of thyme and warm spice. The palate delivers succulent fruit flavours together with a lovely flowing mouthfeel, backed by silky texture and polished tannins, making it immediately appealing" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2019

The 2016 Brazin Lodi Zinfandel is bold and concentrated, opening with rich aromas of ripe blackberry, toasty oak, with hints of black pepper and vanilla. Intense flavours of plum jam, black cherry, spice, and mocha, rock the palate of this daring Zinfandel. Balanced acidity and smooth tannins add complexity and depth to the finish.

Lodi is Zinfandel country. The grape thirves in the region's Mediterranean-like climate and sany soils. Located due east of San Francisco, Lodi experiences warm days and nights that are cooled by the Pacific breezes funneling throughthe Carquines Straits. Its fine granular soils offer excellent drainage, forcing the vine's roots deep into the group. This unique combination of climate, soil and old vines foster small beryy sizes, which leads to intense colour and rich, concentrated flavours.

Lodi winemakers reported the 2016 vintage as being early, heacy and of supreme quality across the board. Grapes, especially reds, are rich and elegant thanks to perfect weather conditions: warm days and cool nights, with more Winter rains than previous years and with no hail damage. The crop was a bountiful one in 2016 - producing sophisticated, high-quality wines.

Brazin lives for the excitement of discovering Zinfandel's bold, adventurous beauty. The Lodi Zinfandel is crafted from head-trained Zinfandel vines that range from 40 to 100 years of age. The winemakers relationships with these family-owned vineyards have endured two, even three generations.

Food Pairing: Don't be bashful with your pairings - be Brazin! Perfect with a bowl of chili, slow roasted bone-in country pork ribs, grilled spice-rubbed flank steak or spicy chicken curry.
