"An intriguing wine from a very ancient wine-producing region. TBH it's a bit of a chameleon. Aromas of wine gums, with a tad of Turkish delight and passionfruit. In the mouth, assertive resin-like tannins kick in straight away but then fade to open up with canned peach, clover honey and a hint of vanilla, then go back to the start with an astringent, dry finish. What a journey. Great with oysters, or Hapuka" Phil Parker, Ponsonby News, Aug 2020
A very bright golden colour with green reflections in the glass, the nose is fresh, floral and expresses peach and pear. An elegant attack on the palate, round and fresh with a hint of minerality and a beautiful acidity. A blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Chardonnay grapes.
Vines were wire-trained and harvested with no pesticides or weed-killers. Cereal crops planted between rows to improve aeration of the soil and feed the soil with organic matter and bacteria. Harvest was by hand, gathering grapes in small crates, with grape sorting.
Deeply rooted in the Levant, the Johnny R. Saadé family translates its passion for vines through the creation of Château Marsyas in the southern part of the Bekaa Valley. Renowned for its wine culture, this ancient land reveals itself to be an exceptional place for the creation of a great wine in line with the highest quality standards. Located at an altitude of 900 meters, Château Marsyas is a family initiative founded on the search for excellence.
