Description

  • Bone-dry style
  • Crisp red berries
  • Soft florals
  • Subtle spice

"Strawberry and red apple skin, rose and plum, peach tea and soft clay mineral scents. Salivating, fruity and dry on the palate with flavours of light red berry fruits, moments of mineral and a super fine dusting of fruit tannins. Well made, refreshing and delicious. Drink now and through 2023" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Apr 2021

"Restrained and delicately lifted, the bouquet shows crunchy apple, oatmeal, lemon zest and flinty characters, leading to a linear palate that's crisp-dry and savoury. At its best" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2021

The 2017-2018 season will be remembered as one which was consistently warmer day to day than previous years. It was not that temperatures were necessarily higher, it was more a sense of milder conditions overall, rather than the suffering extremes. The result was much earlier vine growth and seasonal development than has been seen in recent memory.

Made with 100% Tempranillo grapes from Elephant Hill's Bridge Pa vineyard. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed, spent 1 hour on skin to avoid excessive colour and then vinified in stainless steel tank and on lees for 6 months. It was bottled on the 22nd of August 2018.

Established in 2003, Elephant Hill is located within a stone's throw of the Pacific Ocean on the idyllic Te Awanga coast of Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island. The winemaking at Elephant Hill is driven by tradition while not losing sight of what innovation can bring to the blend. Their aim is to make wines that are balanced, elegant and a true expression of the vineyards they come from.

Food Pairing: Great as an aperitif or with antipasto.
