Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné Paralléle 45 Côtes Du Rhône Rosé 2018 (France)
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné Paralléle 45 Côtes Du Rhône Rosé 2018 (France)
Description
- Bone dry style
- Grapefruit & blood orange
- Redcurrant & floral notes
- Nice acidity
The delicate brilliance and the slightly salmon colour of this wine suggest the finesse of this Rosé. Citrus fruits (grapefruit and blood orange) carry the first notes of the nose. On the palate we also find finer aromas of red berries such as redcurrant as well as floral aromas, all carried by a nice acidity. The freshness remains until the finish to leave the desire to take another sip of this wine.
The soil type is mainly made of clay and limestone with gravely slopes and terraces and some sandy areas. This Côtes du Rhône takes its name from the 45th North parallel which runs two kilometres from the winemakers cellars. This cuvée represents Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné’s commitment towards organic viticulture and respect for the environment. The hand-crafted organic farming results in a lively wine with great harmony and purity of fruit.
Apart from autumn 2018 when heavy rainfall occurred, the 2019 vintage was characterized by a deficit in rainfall. Autumn and winter were warmer than normal, favouring an early start to vegetation. Conversely, spring was rather cool. This phenomenon, coupled with the lack of water, slowed down vegetative growth. By June 30, the bunch closure stage was almost reached on most of the plots. The various heatwave episodes led to a number of ripening blockages. The light rains at the beginning of September brought some freshness. A very satisfactory sanitary state was maintained throughout the season.
The grapes are hand-picked at night in order to keep all the potential of their aromatic qualities. The method of vinification winemakers use is the ‘vin de pressurage’ method, meaning the red grapes are gently pressed so that just enough colour and flavour is extracted. The fermentations are temperature controlled and take between 12 and 15 days in stainless steel tanks.
Food Pairing: Millefeuille of beetroot with fresh goat’s cheese. Summer salads. Grilled and exotic foods.
