Description

  • Dry style
  • Kiwifruit
  • Passionfruit
  • Juicy acidity

Aromas of kiwi & passion fruits are backed up by a juicy tropical palate with just enough acidity to add some crunch. Clean, juicy & tropical Aussie Savvy!

Vineyards are selected with vines that have large canopies to help protect the fruit from the harsh summer sun. This helps promote those intense aromatics that has made Sauvignon Blanc famous. We also manage to sneak some cooler climate fruit from Victoria as well.

Following good rains during winter, good soil moisture along with warm spring days leading into the 2021 vintage allowed the vines to enjoy a good growing season with crops returning to an average size. Relatively mild summer temperatures enabled the fruit to retain higher than normal acidity and freshness of flavour. Harvest began mid-January for the white grapes, with red grapes starting a month later and all Riverina fruit harvested prior to the end of March. Good yields and very good quality.

Winemaking techniques included fermentation at elevated temperatures and fermentation with solids. These techniques improve texture and softness without sacrificing varietal expression. Wine was left on yeast lees 'Sur lie' for 3 months prior to blending.

A celebration of our Italian roots, planted in Australian soil. Enjoyed internationally, these wines reflect the styles of wine that have been appreciated by the De Bortoli family for four generations.

I am a regular Marlborough Sav Blanc lover nothing else will do for me. But I am sold on De Bortoli Sav Blanc, though I think it stands alone for taste, low acidity (I like) pinch of sweetness too - but a very elegant drink from Aussie grapes and Italian Cellar!
