Description
- Sour plum
- Red cherry
- Black pepper
- Cinnamon
The 2021 Mingsha Shan has aromas of black pepper, blackberry, cinnamon and rose. The palate has a brightness and lift with raspberry, red cherry and sour plum characters. The tannins are fine and feathery showing a more delicate palate with cherry pip and violet characters on the finish.
MINGSHA SHAN shows the lighter side of McLaren Vale shiraz. Fruit from our East Block are thinned to 3 tonne/acre- this is fermented with a high proportion of whole berries. We also blend in a shiraz/fiano co-ferment component to bring some aromatic lift and freshness to the palate.
2021 will be remembered as one of the great vintages in McLaren Vale. The vintage started off well with slightly above average rainfall through the winter and spring of 2020. Once the growing season commenced, we had healthy vines, and mild conditions through spring and summer. We had average yields across most white varieties with the resulting wines showing great clarity of aromatics, and in reds, fantastic fruit condition resulted in vibrant primary fruit.
