Description

  • Sour cherry
  • Elegant
  • Ripe tannins

"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino wafts up with a classic mix of earth tones, Tuscan dust and bright strawberries. It’s silky yet cool-toned in feel with inner violet and lavender tones over a core of tart wild berry fruit. The 2020 leaves a coating of youthfully grippy tannins, yet it keeps the mouth watering as sweet minty herbs slowly fade. This is a fun and fruit-focused Rosso that maintains wonderful balance, and I love how savory, almost salty it is at times" Vinous

"This young Sangiovese offers classic varietal aromas of woodland berries, camphor and tilled earth along with a whiff of blue flower. Ripe but also showing bright fruit, the full-bodied, savory palate doles out fleshy Marasca cherry, prune and licorice alongside taut, fine-grained tannins" Wine Enthusiast Magazine

"There is a light umami note of shitake in the 2020 Rosso Di Montalcino as well as candied berries and pressed flowers. Medium-bodied, but generous with ripe cherry, strawberry, and fine tannins as well as a clean and polished finish, this is a lovely Rosso to drink over the next several years" Jeb Dunnuck

Deep ruby red with violet hues. Ample and complex aroma with notes of cherry and sour cherry followed by a woody and spicy fragrance. Elegant and soft palate with pleasant ripe tannins. The aftertaste is fruity, long and persitent.

The grapes were sources from Col d’Orcia's own vineyard, located in Montalcino, on the hill overlooking the Orcia river, facing South. Average height above sea level of 250 meters.

Sangiovese, locally called "Brunello" the same variety used in the production of Brunello di Montalcino.

Food Pairing: Match this mature red with prosciutto, salami or roast pork for a delicious winter meal.
