"A stylish rendition with fabulous fruit purity; the inviting bouquet shows poached pear, subtle spice, citrus peel and white floral nuances, followed by a finely textured palate offering refinement and poise. Elegantly framed by juicy acidity, finishing persistent and satisfying. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2023
"Bright, even, pale straw-yellow. The nose is rich and poised with aromas of orchard fruit, stonefruit, ginger, cinnamon and floral fragrance. Full-bodied, pear, apple and nectarine aromas have a pure core, unfolding ginger, cinnamon, fennel seeds and magnolia. The weighty and creamy mouthfeel flows smoothly with tangy acidity; spices elevate and linger on the finish, lending a dry, crisp finish. This Pinot Gris is beautifully rich with a lovely acid balance and an invigorating, spiced finish" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Oct 2023
"Bright, ripe, varietal, fresh and fruity bouquet with aromas of bosc pear and apple flesh, fresh quinces and citrus highlights. There’s a whisper of white spice and lees. Just dry as the wine touches the palate with a youthful energy and power from the acid line and core fruit impact. Flavours of tree fruits and citrus, pears and apples, white pepper spice and a textured mouthfeel showcasing all the flavours described. Well made, dry on the finish, plenty of acidity and quite plush. Best drinking from 2024 through 2026. Excellent value" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Oct 2023
"Silken, creamy pinot gris with talcum powder texture and gentle stewed pear, peach and honeysuckle flavours. An initial hint of sweetness is partly balanced by gentle acidity to give an off-dry finish. Serve well chilled to help emphasise the acidity" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Oct 2023
Golden straw in colour. Fresh aromas of pear, toasted pine nuts, and lifted Turkish delight awaken your senses. Fresh stone fruit roasted almond flavours mingle with wild thyme and fennel. This multi-layered Pinot Gris is opulent yet clean, bright and juicy. The wine’s poised, beautiful texture leads to a well-balanced, persistent finish.
The fruit was harvested early in the morning to ensure it remained cool and retained purity.
This year’s harvest stands out as one of the best in the past decade - allowing for perfect picking conditions. The Indian summer, followed by a cooler autumn, allowed for an even, slower ripening period, producing highly concentrated fruit with distinctive flavours. As a result, the wines are pure and powerful, with lifted aromatics, lively acidity and great energy.
Lightly pressed, the juice was fermented cool, predominately in stainless steel to maximise fruit purity and distinctive varietal character. The wine was then aged on light yeast lees for four months to gain complexity and increase mouthfeel.
The phoenix is an immortal bird associated with Greek mythology. Much like the phoenix, after a three year hiatus, Two Rivers Pinot Gris has arisen from the ashes and is born again.
