Description

  • French oak
  • Red fruit
  • Spice notes
  • Silky & fresh

"Mellow, elegant Côtes du Rhône red that doesn't get much better than this. Complex wine with layers of dark berry, baked earth, chocolate/mocha and dried herb flavours. Deliciously drinkable and in fine form now" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2024

A strong ruby red. Spices and notes of rich red fruits are dominant on the nose. Round, silky and fresh on the palate.

De-stemming of 95% of the harvest. The absence of crushing allows enzymatic fermentation to begin in the grapes during the first few days, before they burst to reinforce the fruity notes. Mainly aged in concrete vats, nearly 20% of the cuvée is aged for a few months in tuns (40 to 85hL and 115hL truncated cone-shaped wooden vats).

Founded in 1859, Ogier is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the heart of the most prestigious appellation in the south of France. In order to interpret the subtle variations of the terroirs of this AOC and of the entire Rhone Valley, Ogier has deepened its knowledge of the types of soils present in the different appellations and has adapted its work accordingly, particularly its ageing. Its century-old cellars, in the heart of the village, house more than 8,000 hL (211 338 gal) of wooden vats, tuns, demi-muids, barrels and truncated-cone vats. Our Héritages range of wines are a product of Ogier's hundred-year-old expertise and the finest of the Côtes du Rhône terroirs. - Ogier
