Description

  • Toasty oak
  • Cherry & blackcurrant
  • Milk chocolate
  • Long finish

"It's fruit forward and attractively expressed on the nose with blackcurrant, tobacco, nutmeg and floral aromas. The palate displays succulent fruit flavours with supple texture and well pitched tannins, making it elegantly flavoursome and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2023

"Ripe and smoky bouquet of blackberry and black currant, there’s a licorice and plum layer, a moment of tar and marmite then raw sugar and baking spices. Dry with ripe fruit flavours touch the palate first, moderate tannins and acidity add texture and mouthfeel. A balanced even tempered wine with core dark berry and roasted plum flavours, clove and toasty wood qualities. Well made with moderate length, best drinking from 2023 through 2028" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2023

Red Knot Shiraz displays rich aromas of blackberry, cassis and dark chocolate. Aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, milk chocolate, cola and a hint of polished cedar lift from the glass. Fresh summer berries flow through the medium-weight palate, focused by the satiny tannins into a long finish.

McLaren Vale had good winter, and early spring rains were followed by a generally dry and temperate growing season. Good flowering conditions, particularly for the later ripening varieties, resulted in higher berry numbers per bunch. Canopies developed well and were balanced to slightly above-average yields. Slow and steady ripening, without excessive heat events resulted in superb varietal fruit intensity with balanced natural acidity and fine tannin structures.

A warm start to the vintage period, but a long cool period over most of summer and autumn, led to an excellent flavour maturity balanced perfectly with sugar ripeness. Enhanced natural acidity allowed for great colour retention and depth, wines which were a joy to craft.

Food Pairing: Best paired with filet mignon or rosemary infused lamb shank.

Very pleasant drink. We’ve had an earlier vintage previously and have not been disappointed.
