Description

  • American oak
  • Bourbon barrels
  • Grilled peach
  • Lemon pie crust

Golden straw in colour, this Bourbon barrel-aged chardonnay has aromas of ripe, grilled peach, with hints of toasted marshmallow, vanilla bean custard, and baked spice pear. Rich, creamy, and concentrated flavors of grilled peach, lemon pie crust, graham cracker, vanilla bean, baking spices, and toasted oak lead to a balanced acidity and lingering finish. Aged a minimum of two months in American Oak Bourbon Barrels.

The 2022 vintage was a relatively cool growing season through spring and summer. We quickly started our harvest the first week of September following a record setting heat wave throughout California. Following the heat wave, the consistent moderate-to-cool temperatures created a bit of a compressed harvest. The cooler weather resumed resulting in harvest stretching into the second week of November. The lack of precipitation combined with cooler temperatures allowed for white and rose grapes to maintain their natural acidity and fully express their aromatics and flavors before being picked. Red grapes were able ripen slowly, developing dark fruit characters and rich, rounded tannins. The result is beautiful wines showcasing the best California has to offer.

The 2022 vintage had a moderate growing season throughout spring and summer. Cooler temperatures meant harvest started later than normal in the first week of September. Harvest maintained a consistent steady pace, and the near-perfect temperatures and dry conditions allowed the grapes to fully ripen and mature slowly. The resulting wines show balanced flavours and excellent aromatics.

This wine is partly fermented in used Bourbon barrels and partly in American Oak for 7 months. This process gives it a unique, rich flavor and full-bodied character.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with grilled halibut with lemon caper butter, roasted pork tenderloin, garden salad with gorgonzola and toasted pecans, shrimp scampi, bacon-wrapped dates, or sip it on its own as an aperitif.

Pretty good Chardonnay but a tad acidic on the back of the throat. May improve if left for a year or two

Cheryl - 26/11/2024

Lovely buttery Californian wine, I would definitely buy again

Certainly not up the discription given as when a wine is has claimed being processed in an oak barrel of any kind and is rich and creamy my mind goes back to the 80's when the chardonnay produced was creamy and a proper hint of oak could be detected. But I must say compared to other produces makind similar statements this wine has great textre and is probably the best of the rest. I will buy agian as my freinds who tasted this were if the same opinion as me.( I wonder if this will get to "comments made"?)
