Description

  • Black Doris plum
  • Cedar
  • Polished tannins
  • Toasted oak

"Beautifully fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows Black Doris plum, dark cherry, thyme and roasted nut aromas on the nose, followed by a fruit-expressive palate offering excellent fruit intensity backed by polished tannins, finishing long and delectable" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Savoury aromas of cedar and olive brine, complemented by a touch of spice. On the palate, it is rich and full bodied, featuring flavours of ripe plum and black cherry. Rich and silky, it boasts a smooth chocolate structure, culminating in a long-lasting, toasty oak finish.

The grapes for this wine were sourced from the renowned Hawkes Bay region, where they were machine harvested and quickly transported to the winery. This vegetarian-friendly Merlot underwent fermentation in both stainless-steel tanks and oaked barrels, maturing in 60% seasoned French oak barriques.

Food Pairing: The toasty notes of this wine pair wonderfully with Italian-style meatballs in a garlicky tomato sauce.

This is a non-complex yet subtle with fullness of flavour wine with the unmistakable qualities of a well rounded Hawkes Bay merlot.
