Description

  • French oak
  • Plum cherry
  • Bright acidity
  • Fine tannins

This wine shows a light crimson hue in the glass, offering aromas of plum and cherry with subtle savoury complexity and well-integrated oak. On the palate, it’s vibrant, featuring soft red berry flavours complemented by enticing spice notes. The bright acidity and fine tannins add structure, leading to a long, refined finish.

The Elephant in the Room wines are proudly large in scale and expansive in flavour. Ignoring fashion and braving the scorn “wine thought police” Elephant in the Room was created to give consumers exactly what they want – full bodied and mouth-filling wines that deliver maximum pleasure. Each wine is sourced from slow-ripening cool climate vineyards in the Limestone Coast of South Australia and partially matured in French Oak before final blending and bottling by Corey Ryan.

South Australian regions experienced a very dry growing season for the 2024 vintage. Frost, the lack of rain and poor weather during flowering has resulted in lower yields, however, the dry and consistent weather during picking resulted in a vintage of high-quality fruit.

Partially hand before de-stemming and fermentation in a combination of two tonne open fermenters with ten percent whole bunch and twice daily hand plunging and larger closed fermenters with pump overs. A small component of the blend is cool distilled whilst another undergoes ultra-membrane filtration. With very gentle handling, these components are masterfully blending back into the original parcel of wine to arrive at a wellintegrated, lighter finished ABV. The wine post fermentation & blending spends the following three months maturing in stainless steel and 20% in second-use oak before bottling.

Food Pairing: With its moderate alcohol, this wine is an ideal lunchtime companion, pairing well with various fresh dishes.
