A name synonymous with leadership in wine, Sir George Fistonich has a history of success but has always operated with an eye on the future. In 2021 Sir George, not content with retiring, founded Fistonich Family Vineyards to continue his love of viticulture, winemaking and developing future talent.
"A deep salmon and orange hued appearance leads to a a ripe and bold bouquet of red apple and roses, some nectarine skin and red melon, a light honeysuckle quality and fine lees complexity. Satin smooth textures touch the palate first, some contrasting acidity with a light mineral quality. A dry wine with some weight and core fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. Balanced, well made and ready with best drinking from 2024 through end of summer 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Nov 2024
"It's finely scented on the nose, showing raspberry, crunchy apple, lemon peel and subtle spice aromas. The palate displays lovely focus and linear mouthfeel, well supported by bright acidity, finishing lingering and juicy" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2024
Ripe red berry fruit notes with citrus overtones on the nose and palate with hints of watermelon. A firm natural fruit acidity offsets the fruit ripeness making a wine in perfect balance and lengthy firm finish. A lip-smacking Rosé that is perfect for an aperitif or paired with food.
Diverging from the straight and narrow, Obliix wines are made when the winemaker decides to take the road less travelled. The end result is delicious and joyful wines.
2O23 was a textbook vintage for Marlborough. Clear blue-sky days with sporadic clouds and cool nights. Hawkes Bay had its challenges but fortunately, when Cyclone Gabrielle hit, the Syrah was still unripe which protected the fruit and allowed them to withstand the rain and continue to ripen until ready for harvest.
