The wine is a very pale gold colour. The wine displays toasty aromas of fresh baked biscuit, with citrus notes. The mousse is fine and creamy textured, with great persistence in the glass. The palate is pure and elegant, displaying lemon curd and appealing pastry flavours. This refined wine is elegantly structured with taut acidity and a lengthy, clean finish.
The unique result of a winemaking partnership started in 1988 between Montana Wines and the prestigious House of Deutz in Champagne. Deutz Marlborough Cuvée marries the best of New Zealand grapes with traditional French Champagne-making techniques.
Food Pairing: This wine makes a wonderful aperitif, paired with oysters and hors d’oeuvres, but is also a great match for brunch foods such as brioches, croissants, eggs benedict or smoked salmon. Later in the day match this wine with a fresh, vibrant foods such as a rocket, parmesan and pear salad with candied pecans and vinaigrette, or grilled fish tacos with a hint of lime juice. The best cheese matches are salty or nutty cheeses such as gruyere, parmesan or emmental.
