Description

  • Toasty oak
  • Blood plum
  • Chocolate
  • Lengthy finish

"Upfront and fruit expressive, the wine shows blackberry, tobacco, star anise, and toasted nut aromas, leading to a flavoursome palate delivering excellent weight and fleshy texture. Wonderfully framed by layers of fine tannins, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Richly flavoured Cabernet, packed with dark berried fruit, blood plum and chocolate flavours. Tobacco and wood subtle but present, offering a full mouthfeel and lengthy finish.

Black Barrel are wines made from fruit from low yielding, old-vine South Australian vineyards and are traditionally vinified with small open fermenters, hand plunged before partial maturation in three hundred litre, high toast ‘black barrels’ for 6 months.

An exceptional vintage with ideal growing conditions and outstanding quality fruit! A later start to the vintage due to a mild summer facilitating a longer ripening period and a lovely balance in red wines. Dry conditions through summer resulted in small berries and thick skins in reds.
