Description

  • Oak
  • Dark cherry
  • Wild plum
  • Fine tannins

"Lovely complexity and intrigue within the bouquet, aromas of texture and brightness, then scents of dark cherry and baked strawberry, some wild plum and dried herb. There’s also a deep minerality of silt and sandstone like suggestions. Delicious, lighter-weighted expression as the wine touches the palate with fine tannins and a refreshing acid line. Fruits flavours reflect the bouquet as does the earthy highlights and gentle dried herb qualities. Best drinking from late 2024 through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, May 2023

A Classic Wairarapa Pinot Noir alive with complex aromas of herb, cherry, blueberry cola and spice. The palate is full of plummy fruit supported by fine mellow tannins for a long smooth finish.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from our vineyard planted on a gravel terrace in Wairarapa that consistently produces outstanding Pinot Noir. Eight different clones of Pinot Noir are planted and the yields are carefully managed for optimum ripeness. The 2022 season was above average in temperature giving ripe concentrated grapes harvested in March.

The Grapes were harvested by clonal selection and fermented in small open top tanks for an average of 21 days. After pressing the wines rested in tanks and barrels undergoing Malolactic fermentation in spring before blending and bottling.

Food Pairing: Excellent on its own, this wine is a great accompaniment to smoked Salmon, Roast Duck and Lamb chops.
