"30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 25% Sangiovese and 15% Syrah from estate vineyards in Montalcino, given a cold soak and fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in barriques.  Full, very dark, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance.  This has a fine and intense nose of dark red berry fruit with lifted, piquant cherry fruit along with spices and new oak notes.  Medium-full bodied, tightly concentrated and sweetly ripe fruit flavours of black cherries and dark red berry fruit are supported by very fine-grained tannins.  This has substantial and serious extraction, but does not dominate.  The mouthfeel and textures show finesse and elegance, with balanced background acidity combining to provide stylishness and drive.  Spice elements add detail to the red fruits that emerge and these carry through to a tightly bound, refined, textural finish with good length.  This is an elegant Tuscan red with dark cherry and berry flavours and fine structure.  Match with roasted red meats and hard cheeses over the next 6-8 years.  18.0+/20" Raymond Chan
