Description
Classic GSM blend from one of our favourite family domaines.
Bottled in November, 2014, the 2013 Coteaux du Languedoc Pic Saint Loup l'Olivette is a beauty. Medium-bodied, fresh and lively, it gives up lots of kirsch and blackberry like fruit, peppery herbs and spring flowers. It's nicely balanced, has integrated acidity and clean, classically styled finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 4-6 years.
Easily one of my favorite producers in the Languedoc, Clos Marie is run by the talented Christophe Peyrus. I go into more detail about the estate in my producer profile in Issue 212, but the style here is more northern Rhone than Languedoc, with the wines possessing fabulous purity, higher acid levels and firm, age-worthy profiles. These are the Cote Rotie's of the south and should not be missed.
