Description
Where else can you buy mellow barrel aged reds of such remarkable quality and price? Not only is today's Spanish wine scene "among the most vibrant, dynamic and creative in the world" (Tim Atkin MW), it offers the best value.
A classic blend of Tempranillo and Cab/Sav. Cherry in colour with great intensity with a violet rim indicates its long and controlled ageing. The bouquet has wild fruits with spicy notes and a vanilla background from its time in oak. On the palate it is full bodied with long persistent overtones of fruits that are accompanied by sweet tannin ripeness that is well integrated into the structure of the wine. It has a long and elegant finish.
This wine comes from Valencia, region of Spain. D.O. Utiel-Requena. Vineyards are planted on fairly flat ground. The soil is brown with high limestone content, healthy and permeable although low in organic content. Continental climate with cold winters and frequent extreme summers give singular wines. Fermentation at a controlled temperature then the wine is aged in American and French oak barrels for 12 months, then matured in the cellars until ready for drinking.

Excellent in every way. Superb as a pre-dinner drink and goes well with a variety of meats and cheeses. Will definitely buy again

Dissapointing red but I guess you get what you pay for. Not sure why it's a gold medal winner.

Not quite the depth and complexity of 2009 but still excellent with or without food. Great value.
