2013 was an excellent growing season in Paso Robles. The timing of the growth of the vines was perfect with budbreak beginning in the second week of March. The warm spring led to a slightly earlier bloom and fruit set, but the overall fruit came in looking gorgeous. Harvest began in late September and fnished in the middle of October 2013.
For a region that has been growing grapes since 1797, Paso Robles has all of a sudden become one of the “hottest” AVAs in California. Located midway
between Santa Barbara and Monterey, this rolling countryside is synonymous with big, rich, high-character wines. The west portion of Paso Robles enjoys
a moderately cool climate thanks to the inuence of the nearby Pacic Ocean. This is great ground for Chardonnay. The inland east side is warm and sunny and perfect for Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
