Description
"Zesty and easygoing, with lively raspberry, pepper and grilled anise flavors. Drink now through 2022" Wine Spectator, 2017
"Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with black hues. The nose is full and well-packed with concentrated aromas of ripe blackberry fruit harmoniously layered with notes of earth and minerals, along with herbs and subtle whole bunch stalk elements, unfolding dark raspberries and liquorice notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate has deep and concentrated flavours of ripe blackberries with dark herbs, aniseed, earth and mineral notes, along with black pepper and spices. The flavours are up-front and show a complexing savouriness, and are enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity, and underlined by fine, grainy tannin extraction. The grip carries the wine lingering, nuanced finish of blackberries, chocolate and herbs. This is an up-=front Syrah with flavours of blackberries, earth, herbs and minerals, with black pepper, liquorice and spices on a grainy-textured, brisk palate. Serve with grilled and roasted red meats and casseroles" Raymond Chan, 2017
The vineyard stretches for 250 acres over the south slope of the Rattlesnake Mountains in the Yakima AVA at 1,300 feet elevation. The excellent air drainage and higher elevation work to preserve the natural acids in the grapes while flavors mature, making this site ideal for Syrah. The vineyards they work with are farmed using the most up-to-date sustainable practices.
The 2015 Harvest in Washington State started with an early spring bud break and continued into a warm summer. The fall turned out to be long and temperate, balancing out the heat, which gave great ripening to our fruit, bright acid, low alcohol and beautiful complexity.
Food Pairing: Match this Syrah with barbecued or braised chicken or roast meats with winter vegetables.
