Description

  • French oak
  • Blueberry
  • White pepper
  • Refined tannins

"After a brief cold soak to extract colour and flavour the wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks for 28 days before being pressed to barrel where it matured for 14 months in French oak barrels (25% new). Medium-bodied syrah from an excellent vintage. Vibrant plum, dark chocolate, black pepper, floral/violet and subtle oak flavours. Excellent entry level that punched above its weight in this outstanding vintage" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Oct 2022

This medium-bodied Syrah has abundant blueberry and violet notes intertwined with spicy cedary oak and white pepper hints. With a suppleness and refined tannins this wine is ready for immediate enjoyment, it will also reward cellaring.

This delightful Estate Syrah was sourced from specially selected rows in our prestigious Bridge Pa vineyard in the Hawke’s Bay. The alluvial soils allow for free draining and fruit concentration. The 2020 growing season experienced a very long, hot, dry summer and early autumn, with consistent temperatures, which led to harvesting clean fruit at optimum ripeness on the 13th and 14h April 2020.

After a brief cold soak to extract important colour and flavour components, the must was fermented in closed-top stainless steel vats with selected varietal yeasts. After 28 days on skins, the wine was sent to barrel for sixteen months aging in a selection of new (25%) and seasoned French oak.  After a final blending of the all the components, the wine underwent a light fining and filtration before bottling on 17th June 2022.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with Lamb Kofta and couscous salad, yoghurt dressing and Greek Flatbreads.

A great example of a well made classy Hawkes Bay Syrah. Excellent vintage, elegant and luscious, hard to put down. Absolute winner and a give away at this price, highly recommended.

I'm very happy with this wine. I have tried several Syrah's and feel this one is well worth the price. For such a young wine, it is very smooth.

Valerie - 26/05/2023

Very nice HB Syrah, my favourite style.

Not as good as I expected but that's probably my low price palate.

Peter - 26/11/2024

Tastes like a Syrah should and doesn’t upset my digestion like some cheapies do
