Description

  • Fresh red berries
  • Subtle spice
  • Lower acidity
  • Dry style

"The wine is delicately expressed on the nose showing crunchy apple, grapefruit and lemon peel characters with a touch of flint. It is light, bright and vibrant on the palate with fine texture and linear mouthfeel, finishing crisp and lingering" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2019

Varietal raspberry and strawberry aromas with perfumed and spiced notes. Vibrant flavours of red berries and spice on a fresh and lively palate with a soft, long finish. Drink it young and lightly chilled.

The Sileni Cellar Selection Cabernet Franc is sourced from parcels within the Bridge Pa Triangle Winegrowing Region and from the Dartmoore Valley. Bridge Pa is the warmer site offering great concentration in flavours and palate richness, while Dartmoore is slightly cooler providing intense floral and red fruit aromatics.

The Sileni Cabernet Franc Rosé is a direct pressed wine rather than made from a bleed off (saignée) of a red fermentation, meaning that the Cabernet Franc fruit is specifically grown for this wine. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness and then held in the press for a few hours to gain the desired amount of colour and tannin and then pressed to tank for clarification and fermentation. Different yeast are used to provide complexity and cool fermented to enhance aromatics. This wine is made in lower acid style making it very approachable and food friendly, and is bottled early to retain its vibrant aromatics.

In ancient Greece the Sileni were companions of Dionysus, the god of wine, vineyards and theatre. When there was something to be celebrated, the Sileni were always on hand to encourage enjoyment of delicious food, great wine and social interaction. Named in their honour, Sileni Estates produces a range of wines made to be great collaborators, with a talent for enhancing flavours and textures.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with cold meats, salmon, tuna, pasta dishes and soft cheeses.
