Pale green/gold colour in the glass. Tropical fruit flavours of gooseberry and passionfruit threaded with mineral notes. Intense and persistent Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc.
The fruit for this wine all came from Nga Waka's Top Block vineyard which is situated just under 4km’s from the winery and was planted back in 1996. When the winemaker was happy with the flavour profile across the 1.2 hectares Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit was harvested and brought to the winery where 35% was fermented and matured in older French oak barrels with regular lees stirring for palate complexity. The balance was tank-fermented at controlled temperature and left on gross lees for 5 months. The wine was tasted, blended, stabilised and then rested prior to bottling in February of this year 2018.
