Description

  • Plum & cherries
  • Barrel spice
  • Juicy finish
  • Unfined & unfiltered

"A youthful and vibrant with a varietal bouquet of dark red berries, plum, and mineral spice combinations. Some barrel spices layer in complexity with a velvet floral lift and dry stone mineral quality. Delicious on the palate with flavours of sweet barrel spice and a core of red fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. An abundance of tannins add structure and texture as well as contrast to the fruit. Delicious and lengthy, well made and ready for drinking from early 2023 through 2029" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, May 2022

This is a highly concentrated Pinot Noir from low yielding vines. This single vineyard wine displays rich dark fruit aromas of cherries and plums together with smoky and earthy undertones to create a full bodied drinking experience with forest floor complexity and great tannin structure. The densely layered palate of this wine shows all the complexity and richness of flavours making it ripe yet elegant wine with great structure and a juicy finish. Crafted to be enjoyed within 3-5 years of vintage date.

Crafted from a single vineyard on Dog Point Road and unfined and unfiltered. Wine was produced at Jackson Estate winery in Blenheim, a boutique Pinot Noir specialised winery producing premium small batch wines.

The 2021 growing season had an ideal start with an early bud burst after a record warm, dry winter (the second warmest since 1932). Months of November and December challenged flowering and fruit set due to wet weather which resulted in significantly smaller yield harvest. Harvest started early due to optimal grape ripening from dry summer months and record sunshine hours. Fruit was harvested in pristine condition. The quality of the 2021 vintage wines is outstanding.

Food Pairing: Serve alongside a roasted beef or lamb and dark rich gravy and mushrooms. These dishes will complement the rich flavours and complexity of this wine.
