Description
- Medium-sweet
- Lime zest
- Ripe stonefruit
- Racy acidity
"Bright, even, pale yellow with a tinge of green. The nose is softly full, with vibrant aromas of apple, lime, and a hint of honey and floral. Medium-bodied, medium-sweet to taste, with a core aroma of apple intertwined with pink grapefruit, zest, a hint of honey and lime blossom. A lovely, smooth texture with a light touch of apple skin flows seamlessly with thirst-quenching acidity. An excellent balance of acidity and sweetness lends a dry, refreshing finish. This Riesling possesses an apple core with seamless acidity, harmony, and a refreshing linger" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Nov 2022
"Pure, crisp and moderately sweet Riesling supported by enough acidity to give the wine some exquisite sweet/sour tension. Full marks for making a wine in a style that best suits ripe Central Otago Riesling grapes rather than compromise quality to meet market demand. Lime zest and oyster shell/mineral characters. Great now but should develop even more interesting flavours" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review
Vibrant and aromatic, with tropical Lycee aromas layered over lime zest and citrus blossom notes. Ripe stonefruit, mandarin and green mango flesh out the palate, with lemon and lime bringing balance. A juicy and moreish Riesling, with abundant sweetness balanced by a racy, wet stone minerality.
The Life Series captures the essence of Te Kano’s Estate vineyards, using parcels of fruit from across our subregions to give a snapshot of the season and our unique expression of Central Otago.
A combination of our Waitaki and Central Otago subregions. Northburn brings ripe fruit flavours and a crystalline minerality derived from Schist based soils. Waitaki's limestone soils deliver elegance, a chalky line to the mid palate and zesty citrus notes.
The 2022 season was warm and gentle in Central Otago, with a hot Summer and settled harvest conditions. Waitaki was more heavily influenced by it's maritime climate, with a cool, overcast growing season and long warm Autumn. The combination of these diverse conditions has contributed to the complexity of the resulting blend.
Hand harvested and fermented at very low temperatures to preserve fruit expression. Fermentation was stopped early to craft a very low alcohol style with residual sugar balanced by racy acidity.
