"It's fruit forward and fragrant on the nose showing sweet cherry, olive and floral aromas, leading to a finely expressed palate offering youthful fruit flavours with silky texture, making it approachable and delightfully appealing. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Varietal, bright and fresh with a bouquet and palate of fresh red and yellow plums then cherry and soft toasty wood spices including vanilla and some clove. Fine tannins with a light chalky quality, medium+ acid line and balanced, even finish. Best drinking from 2023 through 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
Dark garnet colour in the glass. Aromas of cherry, bramble and charred oak. A full and round bodied palate with cherry, blackberries and integrated notes of toasted oak. An elegant structure with a long and toasty finish. The 2022 Delta Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully from release and will continue to mature over the next four to five years. With fresh and vibrant red berry notes on release, the flavours will evolve and ripen over time.
Predominantly selected from the Delta vineyard, located in Marlborough's Southern Valleys. The vineyard comprises of 27 hectares of Pinot Noir from selected Dijon clones planted in 2002. The vineyard's rich clay soil and elevation combined with Marlborough's warm days and cool nights, make this site ideal for producing top quality Pinot Noir.
During a cool evening, selected Pinot Noir clones were harvested from the vineyard and transported to the winery where they were kept in a cold soak for four days to extract maximum colour, flavour and tannin form the grapes. Fermented at controlled warm temperatures with a carefully selected yeast strain, the grapes were hand plunged up to eight times daily during the height of fermentation. After maturation, Heather then selected her preferred parcels for the final blend of the Delta Pinot Noir 2022.
Food Pairing: Excellently paired with spring lamb and roasted root vegetables.
