Description
- French oak
- Ripe cherry & plum
- Cinnamon & cloves
- Silky tannins
"A lovely wine with a bouquet of fresh black cherry and plum, some dark spices and bracken, dried herb and black currant. The barrel spices suggesting vanilla and a soft clove then a whisper of nutmeg. A silky touch on the palate gives way to some youthful, ripe tannins and plenty of acidity setting in place a decent foundation. Flavours mirror the bouquet centering of darker berries then barrel spice and ending with a dark soil mineral quality. Decent length and lots of charm, best drinking from late 2024 through 2030+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Feb 2024
"Sweetly fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows dark berry, smoked game, roasted nut and warm spice aromas. The palate is equally appealing with plump mouthfeel backed by silky texture and polished tannins, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2024
"Captivating aromas balance soft fruit, earthy savoury notes, and subtle oak The palate explodes with vibrant red and black cherry, complemented by toasty oak notes of vanilla, nutmeg, and clove Hints of olive tapenade add complexity, while crushed rocks bring mineral freshness. The finish lingers with a touch of grilled oyster mushroom, wrapping up this beautifully balanced modern-style Central Otago Pinot Noir" The Wine Writer, Michael Darby
Sunwarmed cherries, doris plums, spiced cinnamon and cloves with underlying savoury notes. Fresh cherries, blackcurrants balanced by sweet vanilla oak and silky fine grain tannins.
Grown in Central Otago elevated glacial terraces and handpicked. Crafted at Gravity Winery via the ancient gravity-fed process to guide the wines to their fullest expressions. Each of the winery’s four levels serves as a stepping point in the gentle wine-making process. From harvesting to fermentation to barrel, the wine is barely touched before it is bottled.
This Pinot Noir celebrates those born of gold, the opportunists, the chancers, the fiercely ungovernable pioneers that carved out a claim on the richest rivers in the world and the self-imposed ‘laws’ that controlled them.
