Description

  • French oak
  • Sweet cherry
  • Rich florals
  • Silky & supple

"Brightly fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows sweet cherry, raspberry, rich floral and subtle spice aromas, followed by a juicy palate that's silky and supple. Fruit forward and delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2023

This full-throttle Pinot Noir is a richer and powerful example of the variety. With generous aroma's of red berries, vaniilla bean and Autumn leaves with a hint of spicy oak. The palate is perfumed, polished and precise with good complexity and concentration.

Crimson Monster creates monstrously rich and full bodied wines sourced from lowyielding, established vineyards located in some of South Australia’s finest regions such as McLaren Vale and Coonawarra. Thick gnarled old vines produce tiny berries of incredible intensity that is harnessed by careful winemaking and partial maturation in large seasoned oak barrels to deliver wonderfully approachable, opulent and mouth-coating flavours.

A cool, wet spring helped with soil moisture followed by a warm November ensuring no damaging weather conditions. Cool and calm weather followed that meant even ripening and good acid retention. A mild end to summer and a cool Autumn saw fruit hanging with no disease or extreme heat posing a problem. Yields and quality were up across the board.

Staggered hand-picking sections of the vineyard ensuring the fruit is at optimal ripeness. The fruit was de-stemmied and fermentation occurred in a combination of two tonne fermenters with twice daily hand plunging and pump overs. All components blended post fermentation before the final wine was part matured in small French oak barrels for 6 months before bottling with minimal fining, filtration and sulphur addition.

Food Pairing: Pair with mushroom risotto.
