Description

  • Subtle oak
  • Blood plum
  • Warm spice
  • Fine tannins

"Delightfully aromatic and enticing, the wine shows blackberry, vanillin oak, cake spice and mocha notes on the nose. The palate is equally satisfying with medium-full weight and plush texture, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2032" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2023

Deep purple colour with aromatic notes of red berry and blackcurrants framed by violet overtones and subtle cedarwood spice. The palate is dense and plush, with flavours of blood plum, chocolate, blueberry and spice framed by subtle oak toast and fine tannins.

In 2022 the Barossa experienced outstanding growing conditions. Harvest started approximately 2 weeks later than the past 10 year average with Shiraz being picked mid to late March. A wet spring provided optimal soil moisture throughout the harvest months, spring storms resulted in lower than usual fruit set and although yields were lower the quality was high. Mild summer temperatures facilitated a long and slow ripening period which resulted in optimum colour development, and balance between fruit flavour and tannin.

Fruit from low yielding, old-vine Barossa vineyards, vinified in small open fermenters and hand plunged before partial maturation in three hundred litre, high toast barrels for six months.

Food Pairing: A generous wine, packed full of flavour that would pair perfectly with roast lamb.
