"This is elegant and inviting on the nose with green pear, Gala apple, citrus peel and white floral aromas, followed by a juicy palate offering vibrant mouthfeel together with fine texture, finishing smooth and refreshing. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

Very pale gold in its youth. With time it may well pick up some onion skin tints. This is very typical for Pinot Gris as it ages. A lovely heady mix of ripe apples, pears, and spices. This wine is remarkably full bodied and textural for a Pinot Gris. It had real presence on the mid palate and the flavours linger well after swallowing. It is dry in style, with just a whisper of residual sugar. This wine is already drinking beautifully and will develop more complexity with medium term cellaring.

We sourced this SV Pinot Gris from one of the blocks on our home vineyard here at Coopers Creek in Kumeu. The 2022 growing season was warm and dry. This resulted in one of the earliest picking days since the vines were planted in the 90s, on February 18th. The fruit for our SV Pinot Gris all came from this first day of picking, when the grapes were most balanced with flavour and acidity. The juice was fermented in 90% stainless steel, with one select seasoned barrel being chosen to add a spice complexity. The wine was left on lees for 5 months, stirring each week to promote autolysis. In August the wine was fined, filtered, and bottled on September 7th 2022.

Food Pairing: Antipasto platters. Asian inspired cuisine is also a perfect match for this exotic dry white wine.
