Description

  • Dry style
  • Kaffir lime
  • Passionfruit
  • Crisp finish

"Gorgeously fragrant and instantly appealing, the wine shows white flesh peach, green rockmelon, passionfruit and kaffir lime characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate offering fabulous fruit purity combined with fleshy texture and beautifully pitched acidity. Exuberant and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2024

"Herbaceous, fruity, tropical and precise with an energy and classic push on the senses. Aromas and flavours of pineapple and basil, fresh red apple and sage, grapefruit and peach then a dry stone mineral quality. Fresh, crisp and dry on the finish, a wine ready to drink from 2024 through 2027+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Dec 2024

Fresh, edgy and intensely vibrant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Mouthwatering passionfruit, lime zest and grapefruit flavours are offset with a crisp lime finish. Weighty, with good concentration and length. Lingering freshness and flavour. Passion fruit, lime zest, melon and sweet herbs.

Bold and intensely vibrant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc distinctively Awatere Valley, this wine is sourced solely from our finest steeply terraced, north facing blocks on the OTU Wine Estate.

The 2024 growing season and the anticipated arrival of El Niño conditions meant a season with less than average rainfall and overall warmer, drier conditions. These led to a great growing season with low disease pressure, and lower yields contributing to great fruit concentration in the wines. The OTU Viticulture team managed the drought conditions with sustainable water use through carefully monitored drip irrigation and from the Estate’s on-site reservoirs. During the ripening period of January to early March the warmtemperatures and less than average rainfall meant ideal ripening conditions with little disease pressure. Despite the dry conditions, the classic cool Marlborough nights ensured that freshness and acidity levels were maintained in the 2024 season, and fruit concentration and quality at harvest were excellent.

Harvested in the cool of the night, all OTU Sauvignon Blanc fruit was off the vines in a quick, smart and focused harvest within 4 days, finishing in late March, a full 2 weeks earlier than the previous vintage. The 2024 OTU Estate Classic Sauvignon Blanc was predominantly harvested from our most elevated coastal Blocks 3 & 4, and our low yield, high performing D Blocks 2 through 5. To ensure added texture and depth, after fermentation, the wine was kept on light lees for three months until bottling
