Description
"CHARMING BORDEAUX-BLEND" Sam Kim Wine Orbit
“TERRIFIC WINE BARGAIN” Fiona Beckett
“At a swift glance you’d assume it was Bordeaux but in fact it comes from the Languedoc. With its gorgeous smooth, ripe blackcurranty fruit it tastes better than most clarets at this price too.” Fiona Beckett
“Modern and friendly, this is a charming Bordeaux-blend from Languedoc-Roussillon showing fragrant aromas of dark plum, blueberry, floral and roasted beet. The palate delivers lovely juicy fruit intensity and silky texture, nicely supported by fine tannins. Flavoursome and approachable. At its best: now to 2019.” Sam Kim Wine Orbit
This intensely fruity, supple wine is made by the much celebrated Thierry Boudinaud, one of the most dynamic winemakers in Southern France. He creates wines with a distinctive, balanced style that are fruit orientated and elegant. This 55% Cabernet Sauvignon 45% Merlot is sourced from particularly dry sub-areas of Languedoc-Roussillon to enhance ripening. Cold maceration and cool fermentation promote purity of fruit and the wine is not fined in order to preserve the rich fruit flavours. Deep red in colour, with intense aromas of ripe red plum and dark cherry accompanied by hints of eucalypt, liquorice and exotic spice notes. Rich and smooth on the palate, with juicy dark fruit flavours, a hint of spice and a long, satisfying finish. This wine is ideal for drinking now but can be kept for up to 3 years.
