"This is a wonderful expression of the variety showing classic perfumed aromas of sweet plum, raspberry and floral with nuances of mixed spice and charcuterie. The palate delivers elegant weight and rounded mouthfeel, well complemented by silky texture and juicy fruit intensity. Soothing and flavoursome at once. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2021
"Aromas and flavours of dark berries and plum, some black currant and some meaty brown spice payers. Nice weight and core of fruit with contrasting acidity and fine easy tannin structure. Balanced and well made, fresh, fruity and dry finish. Best drinking from 2021 through 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
This is a rich, medium to full-bodied, opulently-fruity wine with complex notes of chocolate and gentle spice, a soft, silken, texture and ripe tannins that allow for early drinking but have the intensity to age and mellow for 3-4 years.
Available for the first time ever, this is a brand new wine designed for New Zealand tastes by importer Steve Bennett, Master of Wine. Made in collaboration with Bodega Navarro López who were originally founded at the start of the 20th Century by Don Juan Sánchez. The company is still in family hands for the 5th generation and understand that success starts with the choice of the best parcels of vineyard.
This wine is made from a seleccion of the best bunches hand harvested late in the season for optimum ripeness from 40 year-old Garnacha (Grenache) bush vines grown in the regions of Valdepenas and Castilla-La Mancha in southern Spain. The vines are grown at 550-700 metres above sea in an extreme continental climate with cold winters and hot, dry summers where they produce exceptional intensity of fruit and complexity.
Food Pairing: Delicious on its own or pair well with white and red meats, pate & cheeses.
