"Offering fruit purity as well as elegant complexity, the wine shows dark plum, raspberry, floral and olive notes on the nose, followed by a brightly expressed palate offering silky flow and delicate tannins. Juicy and refreshing, making it splendidly appealing. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Fragrant, floral red in an appealing style with red berry, violet, spice/anise, baked earth and dried herb flavours supported by fine, ripe tannins" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Sep 2022
"Roasted red-pepper and cranberry nose, and then into fireworks of sweet, chilli-pepper smoky, cheeky fruit smeared in tomato jam and a touch of basil leaf. Light-touch tannins. Mouth-watering. I eat very little pasta, but all this wine makes me feel like is a giant bowl of spaghetti alle vongole. A wine that belongs on a long, stained, burn-marked wooden kitchen table with pots of steaming food and bowls laden with bright salads. A wine that should be drunk in the hubbub noise of family and friends" Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com
It is a deep-hued, intense, fragrant red, with aromas of berries, violet and a hint of spice. It is soft and silky in the mouth with an abundance of ripe fruit and well-rounded tannins. The Via Terra wines are designed to show the fruitiness and pureness of the grape and to be “playful wines, easy drinking to fully enjoy life's pleasures.
Via Terra (literally “the way of the earth”) is produced by renown wine company Edetària, located in Gandesa, the centre of DO Terra Alta and named after “Via Edetana”, a former Roman road. It pays homage to the Mediterranean culture where wine has always been at its core.
Edetària produces authentic, characterful wines from its own 60ha of estate vineyards, carefully controlling all levels of production. The focus is on indigenous grapes, searching the purest soil expression, and restoring old vines thanks to organic winemaking. Solar energy is used in the cellar and the estate is CCPAE certified.
Made from Garnacha vines that are at least 25 years old grown in well-drained, limestone-influenced soil terraces with low yields from vineyards located in la Plana de Gandesa. Once in the cellar, there are two different wine making processes. A first one, with a cold maceration of grapes, to obtain all of Grenache’s inherent fruitiness; and a second one more traditional, with riper grapes to achieve a more complex structure to the whole. Aged in 300 litre French oak barrels for 6 months.
Food Pairing: Delicious on its own but will work with a wide array of white and red meat, pasta, cheese and tasty vegetable dishes.
