Description

  • Dry style
  • Lemon-creme
  • Fine acidity
  • Lengthy finish

"Brightly fruited and inviting with Granny Smith apple, white flesh peach, feijoa and green tea aromas, it's succulent and flavoursome in the mouth offering excellent fruit weight and juicy fruit intensity. Beautifully textured and balanced with a persistent, refined finish. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2024

"Youthful, varietal and fruity bouquet of tropical fruits, apple and citrus, the minerality statement is clear with a wet pebble quality and light white spice suggestion. Crisp, dry, plenty of white spices and fresh orchard fruits flavours. The tropical side are firm and fresh, a decent acid line and all wrapped a fresh shiny frame. Balanced and well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2024

Herb and citrus up front on the nose, giving way to lemon-creme on the palate. Fine acidity and a bit of phenolic weight provide length and depth to the finish.

A true cross section of the Wairau Plains, from the deep loams of the lower Wairau, Dillon's Point and the silty gravels of Rapaura to the clays of Renwick and the Southern Valleys, Acorn covers the range of terroir of the best of the Wairau Valley.

Harvested cold, the fruit was lightly pressed in multiple parcels, allowing the individual blocks to be fermented in small format, so all of the winemaking choices could be tailored to the individual character of the fruit. Once blended the wine was kept on light fermentation lees and stirred weekly to continue developing palate complexity.

All vineyards and the winery are Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) accredited.

The cooperative began in 2012 with a small group of like-minded growers wanting to take more control over their end product. Since then the cooperative has grown to over 80 members and nearly 800 hectares all across the subregions of Marlborough.
