Description

  • Dry style
  • Punchy citrus
  • Herbs & minerality
  • Complex & lingering

This pale gold wine meets the nose with a bouquet of punchy aromatics, from freshly cut capsicum, tomato leaf, citrus, and hints of jalapeño transfer onto a powerful palate. The satisfying palate has notes of herbs and nettle underpinned with grapefruit all bound with in a striking minerality. This wine is complex and layered, inviting you to linger and discover. A powerful wine which is ready to be drunk now; or cellar for up to one -two years to develop complexity.

In the more southern Awatere Valley, the soils are composed of three distinct layers: a thin semi-fertile soil, a middle layer of river stones and shingle, and all underpinned by an impervious mudstone layer that effectively prevents the roots of the vines from penetrating further and hence controls the vine’s vigour.

Now, this land produces pungent grapes that reflect the raw nature of Marlborough’s wildest valley with the vivid flavours captured in every bottle of Triplebank wine. Our winemaking philosophy is to capture and accentuate the essence of what has proved to be a distinctive winegrowing area.

Food Pairing: This punchy wine will resonate with equally tangy foods such as salads featuring asparagus, fennel or fresh tomato dressed with a vinaigrette. Add goats’ cheese or avocado for extra richness. Seafood of all kinds will be a great match, especially freshly steamed muscles in a garlic and white wine sauce topped with a wedge of lemon and fresh parsley served alongside warm baguette.
