"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full, with aromas of white floral, pear, golden apple and spice. Medium-full bodied, dry-ish to taste, aromas of Nashi pear and golden apple are crisp, entwined with magnolia and delicate spice. "Ripe, varietal, spicy and delicious, a wine with a lovely aromatic bouquet of apples and pears, white spice and most importantly a mineral core. Just dry as the wine touches the palate with core fruits and acidity immediately engaging and salivating. Some fine lees work adds complexity, acidity adds a touch of drama, overall a delicious wine that is perfect on its own and with food. Concentrated and expressive, with vibrant andexotic aromas of green ginger, lychee, Nashi pear,and spice. Pear, lemon zest, ginger and spiceexplode onto the palate, with sumptuous, lushfruits tempered by a fine line of delicate phenolicsand mineral acidity.
The Life Series captures the essence of Te Kano’sEstate vineyards, using parcels of fruit from acrossour subregions to give a snapshot of the seasonand our unique expression of Otago Pinot Gris.
Thie high altitude and Shist of Northburn deliver ripe tropical fruits and a slaty minerality, while Waitaki's chalky soils and cooler growing season add nuance and delicate aromatics with gentle phenolic structure.
Favourable early season conditions in Central Otago delivered strong canopy growth. A hot dry Summer turned cool around harvest, allowing for extended maturation time for most blocks. The Waitaki growing season was heavily influenced by the La Nina weather patterm, with cool conditions creating wines with elegance and finesse.
Hand harvested by vineyard and fermented in stainless steel at very low temperatures to preserve fruit expression. A period of aging on full fermentation solids builds mid palate body and complexity prior to bottling.
