Description
- French oak
- Dark cherry & plum
- Roasted nut & baking spices
- Velvety finish
"Beautifully perfumed and enticing with dark cherry, violet, clove and roasted nut characters, followed by succulent palate that's fleshy and finely textured. Stylish and elegantly flavoursome with a sustained velvety finish. At its best: now to 2030" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"There’s often nothing more satisfying than the bouquet of a well made wine that ticks the boxes of variety and expresses a style reflect place and time as well as attention to detail - I find these attributes clear and intense in this wine. Aromas and flavours of spiced dark cherry and plum, wild red flowers, nut, dried herb and wild strawberry. Tannins are firm and in abundance, acidity adds tautness and power, there’s a core of fruit and oak impression offering anise and brown baking spices and some new wood bite. Well made, still taut and youthful with a lengthy gently saline finish. Best drinking from late 2023 through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Apr 2023
"Bold, flavoursome pinot noir with slightly rustic plum, berry, dark cherry, vanilla, baked earth, mocha, cocoa powder and old leather. Rich and quite complex wine in a big, bold and ripe style" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Dec 2022
This 2021 Pinot Noir shows bold aromas of wild roses, blue and black berries, spice and smoke. The palate is rich with cherry and plum flavours, a silky texture and fine acidity and tannin through the finish.
The different clones were harvested and fermented separately in open top tanks, with some batches destemmed and the Abel whole cluster. After maceration on skins for an average of 21 days the young wines were run to French oak barriques, 20% of which were new. The wines remained in barrel for twelve months undergoing malolactic fermentation in the spring before blending and bottling.
