"Charming and immediately appealing, the wine shows sweet cherry, warm spice, almond and rich floral aromas on the nose. The palate delivers ripe berry flavours with plump mouthfeel, well supported by silky texture and elegant tannins, finishing lingering and delectable. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2023
It's fabulously fruited and lifted on the nose, showing dark cherry, doris plum, floral, thyme, savoury spice and subtle earth characters. The palate delivers lovely weight and fruit intensity together with silky texture and fine tannins, making it charming and highly enjoyable.
Shaky Bridge Pioneer Series wines are crafted to deliver a high quality wine that delivers on quality but is exceptional value. We don’t believe in compromising on quality at any pricing tier.
Shaky Bridge Wines is located in the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Basin of Central Otago, New Zealand. Our location situated below the Southern 45th Parallel is the southern most winegrowing region on the globe. Our location is ideally suited to the creation of complex and floral Pinot Noir with character that offers both concentration of flavour and precision from the acidity.
All sourced from our estate vineyards and sustainably farmed, Shaky Bridge is family-owned and one of the original pioneer grape growers of Central Otago with beginnings back in 1973.
We de-stemmed and lightly crushed high quality Pinot Noir grapes from 3 different source blocks into stainless steel tanks for a cold soak period of several day.
Primary fermentation took place at 30c+ temperatures, and were pumped over of hand plunged gentley several times a day to achieve optimal colour and flavour extraction.
Malolactic took place in a mixture of old and newer French Oak barrels, with a maturation period of 12 months in barrel. We lightly filtered the wine before bottling.
