"Dominated by 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller percentages of the other Bordeaux red grapes, this wine speaks of heritage and prestige. Broad, silky, and powerful, the graceful liquid is enhanced by dark chocolate, white pepper, black plum, violets, and sweet earth" Meridith May, Tasting Panel, Jan 2022
"Lovely cabernet notes of bell pepper, blackcurrants, blackberry leaves and cassis, together with some cocoa powder. I like the freshness. Medium body and creamy, powdery tannins. Juicy and extremely drinkable. 80% cabernet sauvignon, the rest merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot and some malbec. Drink from 2023" James Suckling, Sep 2022
Cherry, purple plum, sage, sandalwood, mint, vanilla bean. Expressive and layered with rich, sweet black fruit, warm oak spice. Lush texture, bright acidity, fine tannins, vibrant fruit notes.
Robert Mondavi’s vision was to elevate Napa to the world stage. In celebration of his achievement, our Napa Tier wines are sourced from distinctive vineyards throughout the Napa Valley and truly emulate a classic Napa Valley style.
Fruit for our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our own vineyards in Oakville and Stags Leap as well as from growers with whom we have long-term relationships. The combination of different terroirs elicits wonderfully concentrated, expressive wine.
The 2019 vintage could be called a winemaker’s dream. A long summer brought each block to its ideal ripeness. Our grapes were hand-harvested between September 18 and November 2 before aging 18 months in French oak barrels (21% new). The introduction of other key Bordeaux varieties to this wine lets the structure, balance, and flavor profile truly shine.
